⏱️ Tour program

🌄 Option 1 (one-day). Getting to know Mirny

– Meeting guests at Mirny airport, departure for the excursion.
10:00-12:00
– Observation deck of the Mir open-pit mine
The Mir open-pit mine is a giant primary diamond deposit with a strictly recorded depth of 525 metres and a diameter of 1.2 kilometres at the upper rim. Open-pit ore mining was carried out here from 1957 to 2001. This is where the development of Yakutia’s diamond industry began.
– Monument to the miners of the Mir mine.
– Entrance sign to Mirny, the “Stele to Motorists – Pioneers”.
Opened in April 1967 for the 10th anniversary of the first motor-tractor convoy that connected the Yakutian cities of Mirny and Lensk. The memorial bears the names of pioneer drivers who made a significant contribution to the establishment of the Diamond Region.
– Architectural and memorial complex “Vilyuy Ring”
This is a round pedestal shaped like a kimberlite pipe, above which rises the sacred Sakha tree Aal Luuk Mas with a gilded figure of the Mother of Yakutia. In the foreground is a sculptural group by Eduard Pakhomov: an Evenk guide on a reindeer and the legendary discoverers of Yakutian diamonds – L. Popugayeva and worker F. Belikov. This memorial clearly reflects the heroic history of the development of the Diamond Region and the role of pioneers in the development of the North.
– Victory Square “Three Swords” (monument to I.V. Stalin), Holy Trinity Church, church square.
The church was built with funds from ALROSA. The facade features six mosaic icons. Inside, the full-length icons on the columns are made of natural stone, and the iconostasis icons contain more than seven thousand precious and semi-precious stones mined and processed in Yakutia.
12:15-13:45
– Lunch at a restaurant or café in Mirny (not included in the price)
14:00-18:00
– ALROSA Diamond Museum
This museum presents the full journey of a diamond: from its origin in the Earth’s interior to the creation of jewellery masterpieces. Visitors can learn the secrets of factory ore processing and the specifics of open-pit mining using the Mir pipe as an example. Those who wish can put on a miner’s helmet and self-rescuer, take a simulated lift descent into a mine and feel like miners. An important part of the museum’s exhibition is a collection of minerals, as well as copies of large historical diamonds and brilliants.
– Mirny Local History Museum
This is a unique cultural space where guests can touch the origins of the Diamond Region and see authentic personal belongings, rare photographs and documents of pioneer geologists. The museum’s exposition introduces visitors to a rich collection of kimberlites, ancient fossils and the remarkable nature of the North, and also reveals the distinctive traditions of local residents.
– City Park of Culture and Recreation, Mir pipe
– Landscape and Ethnographic Complex “Land of Olonkho” or “Living Diamonds of Yakutia” Nature Park (if desired and/or time permitting, depending on the season)
– “Land of Olonkho”: the venue of the national Ysyakh festival. The complex features many architectural structures based on the Yakut Olonkho epic.
– “Living Diamonds of Yakutia” Nature Park: home to unique animals (muskoxen, yaks, red deer, reindeer and many others). It is the only nature park in the republic created within an industrial development area. The park was built with funds allocated by ALROSA.
– Transfer of guests to Mirny airport.
– Flight to Yakutsk.
