Ethnic tour to Namsky Ulus (1 day)

Home » Summer Tours » Ethnic tour to Namsky Ulus (1 day)

We invite you on a one-day journey to Namsky Ulus — one of the oldest districts of Yakutia.

One day — and you find yourself in a real Yakut village, where people have grown bread on permafrost for centuries. Walk through the sites of the Skoptsy religious exiles in Markha, admire the wooden architecture of Russian settlers, step inside a traditional Yakut balagan, and visit a museum where you can explore the daily life of the Sakha people. If the group wishes, you may even meet a real Yakut shaman!

A calm format without physical strain — perfect for families and for those who want to see Yakutia beyond the capital.

This tour is your chance to see a real Yakut village and touch the history of the exploration of the North!

⏱️ Tour itinerary

🌄 Discover Namsky Ulus

09:00–11:30 Departure from the hotel, with a guided tour along the way including stops on the religious exile in Yakutia and the wooden architecture of Yakutsk’s outskirts.
– Markha village. Guided tour “Religious exile in Yakutia. Skoptsy”.
– Kildyamtsy village. “Wooden architecture of Russian farmers”.

11:30–13:00 Excursion to the “Nikolskaya Sloboda” museum.
– The Nikolsky Land Use Museum covers the history of growing grain and vegetable crops on permafrost. The museum uses tables, diagrams and maps to illustrate the formation of the Soviet collective and state farm system in the Yakut village. Here you can see the outstanding achievements of the first farmers and learn about the activities of the first machine and tractor station. The museum also hosts interactive exhibitions, and on its grounds there is a Yakut balagan (traditional winter dwelling).

13:30–14:20 Lunch at a village cafe (not included in the price).

14:30–16:00 Visit to the Namsky Historical and Ethnographic Museum (open on weekdays; the departure to Yakutsk may be earlier).
– The ulus museum gives an insight into the life of ordinary rural residents of Yakutia during the important years of transformation of our harsh region, both economically and politically. Its collections include wooden and birch-bark items — round Yakut tables on three legs, willow stools, agricultural tools, hand mills with wooden and stone millstones. The ethnographic material is so diverse that the culture and daily life of the Yakut people can be studied from it.

If the group wishes — a visit to a shaman is possible with an adjustment to the program.

16:00–17:30 Return to Yakutsk.
