List of recommended personal equipment for rafting (water trekking)

In the summer, if it’s warm, you won’t need a complete list, but it’s better to let things stay in your backpack than to freeze. The list is recommended for long-term rafting.

The main thing is that things should be durable, compact and light!

Moreover, you won’t have to wear a backpack; he will sail on a catamaran.

  1. A backpack or bag of a suitable size (preferably a bag or NOT a frame backpack, because the frame is inconvenient to pack).
  2. Sleeping bag (with a comfort temperature of +5° or less).
  3. Inflatable mat or Foam (polyurethane foam mat, preferably hard and thick, it is warmer; it is better not to use mats from chain supermarkets).
  4. Seat (butt support).
  5. Mug, bowl, spoon, knife.
  6. Matches, lighters. At a minimum, put one box in plastic or other waterproof packaging and wrap it with tape, and you can take other means for lighting a fire in a damp environment.
  7. Change of underwear and pants (light fleece, quick-drying).
  8. Unsaleable and waterproof jacket/windbreaker + the same pants.
  9. Hermetic bags, dry bags, dry bags
  10. Fleece/pollar (sweater) 2 pcs.
  11. Work gloves (rowing and for working around the fire) 1-2 pairs or fleece (warmer).
  12. A warm jacket (like an autumn one), but a thick winter one is probably not worth taking.
  13. Raincoat or rain cape.
  14. Spare socks 2-3 pairs.
  15. Swimming trunks/swimsuit.
  16. A hat (bandana) from the sun and mosquitoes, you can take a mosquito net if mosquitoes irritate you.
  17. Flashlight (preferably a headlamp).
  18. Documents, money (pack tightly).
  19. Personal first aid kit (medicines for you personally, if necessary).
  20. Cellophane bags for small waste
  21. Insect repellent, AFTER bites for itching, sunscreen, chapstick (for chapping). For midges, you can use nets with special impregnation, vanillin powder, or products with cloves.
  22. Toilet paper, wet wipes, garbage bags (useful both for their intended purpose and for packing wet/dry things separately from each other).
  23. Simple bags for transportation (for hermetic bags, etc.)
  24. Training shoes
  25. Water sandals
  26. Fishing accessories (float rods, spinning rods, fly fishing)
  27. Rubber boots (preferably swamp boots, long ones).
  28. Notebook, pen, tape, needle and thread, sunglasses, spare batteries, spare plastic bags;
  29. Neoprene suit 3-5 mm thick (optional). If you DO NOT have neoprene and don’t want to buy it, you can do without it. The minimum that is highly recommended is neoprene socks or boots.
  30. False flare, pepper spray, special means for protection against aggressive animals (optional).
  31. Small thermos (optional).

See you on the routes! 😉

Personal equipment for rafting on catamarans.

You must have at least 2 sets of clothes!

The first one is for rafting, that is, in it we are on a catamaran, this is a rafting kit. We don’t worry if it gets wet, that’s normal.

The second is dry for the shore.

The float kit includes:

  • Sports pants with lining, or fleece + windproof and waterproof.
  • Top sports jacket and fleece. You can also take a T-shirt made of synthetic materials or thermal underwear in this set. Cotton underwear is not recommended for rafting.
  • A life jacket, by the way, is a very warm thing (issued by the tour operator, must be worn).
  • Trekking shoes (sneakers) for rock excursions + special neoprene socks and water sandals.

When it’s cold and windy, the rafting kit is put on completely, and when it’s sunny and hot, you can get by with just a swimsuit.

In the middle of summer, you may never wear warm clothes, but it’s still worth taking them! In August, the nights can already be quite cool, even if the heat in Yakutsk is 40 degrees, take warm clothes!

The rafting kit should not contain items made of cotton materials. They don’t heat up when wet and take a long time to dry. Jeans are also not recommended! They take a very long time to dry.

The second set of clothes is dry clothes for the evening and night.

The clothes from this set can only be worn when they cannot get wet! Then you won’t need to dry it later.

That is, if we go ashore and it’s pouring rain, then we don’t need to change into dry clothes. This way all dry things will get wet. You need to change clothes when the awning is already stretched over the fire in the camp, the tent is set up, etc.

The dry kit should include:

  • Sports pants or fleece pants, 2 pieces possible.
  • A sports jacket, a pair of fleeces (sweaters (blouses)), a warm jacket (it will be comfortable to sit by the fire at night)
  • Warm socks, T-shirts, underwear.

The dry set should remain dry, and you can sleep in these things.

During sleep, it is better to put excess dry things in a dry bag or garbage bags so that they do not become damp in the tent. It is better to sleep in a minimal amount of clothing in a sleeping bag. If it’s cold, you can wear extra dry clothes.

If the day is warm, then warm clothes are not required. For the evening, a T-shirt and a sports jacket or fleece will be enough. It is important that your clothes that you put on in the evening are not bitten by mosquitoes; the fabric should be thick.

On the route in summer you need to count on weather from 10 to 30 degrees during the day.

That is, there may be days with a daytime temperature of 10°, or there may be days with 25-30°.

You can more accurately navigate the weather forecast before leaving.
